The doyen of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon commands a distinct character and voice of place. Its soaring aromatics, classical structure and voluminous flow reflect the rolling Wilyabrup landscape, and imaginative and consistent winemaking philosophies.
Established by Doctor Bill and Sandra Pannell in 1969, the inaugural release of the Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon was in 1973, where only 250 dozen bottles were produced. The wine has since become highly celebrated, largely due to its reputation for graceful ageing. Intensely perfumed with pure cassis blackcurrant aromas, hints of cedar and touches of violet, combined with neatly balanced oak are typical of the style. With proven ageing potential, this wine develops subtle earth and briar characters on the bouquet, and complexity and suppleness on the palate.
